It’s been a busy week for salmon managers in Oregon and Washington and something of a perfect storm for their constituents.

Columbia River summer and fall regulations were officially adopted; the river was temporarily reopened for salmon fishing just as the summer chinook run seemed to be starting, and Oregonians were pleasantly surprised to wake up Wednesday to the resumption of a two-rod rule for the Willamette River, lasting through the end of July.

First up, the Columbia River Compact decided to reopen the river from Friday through June 15, spanning two weekends after the Bonneville Dam count hit four figures for the second time in a week.
