"It's not just a river. It's a way of life."
-- Kristine Meyer, Whitman County Commission President
The Port of Whitman County is inviting community members to the 8th annual Snake River Family Festival on Saturday, June 14, at Boyer Park and Marina in Colfax.
The event runs from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and features free barbecue lunch, Ferdinand's ice cream, live music, river-related exhibits, and activities for all ages to enjoy.
Festival attendees can also enter to win a half-day, guided Hells Canyon jet boat tour for two from Snake River Adventures by visiting each exhibitor booth and receiving stamps on their event passport. Raffle winners will be announced at the band stage at 1:30 pm.
The festival highlights the importance of the Columbia-Snake River System to Whitman County and the surrounding Palouse area.
"The Snake River Family Festival is an opportunity for Whitman County to come together and celebrate our river system," Commission President Kristine Meyer said. "Our river system supports a multitude of industries in Whitman County. We rely on it for freight transportation, power, and recreation opportunities. It's not just a river. It's a way of life."
