Public Lands Council Wants

The Public Lands Council wants Congress to reform the Endangered Species Act. Council Executive Director Ethan Lane says they'd like to see more local control, with state agencies taking a greater role in the regulation.
He says recovery and delisting of species needs to be part of the rule rather than constantly listing various species.
Lane says another major problem with the current Act is that there's so much regulatory uncertainty.
Lane attended a recent ESA workshop in Wyoming hosted by Governor Matt Mead, chairman of the Western Governor's Association. Mead has made reform of the Act a main priority for the Governor's group.
