River Transit to Close for Maintenance in March by Staff The Columbian, February 21, 2009

Annual maintenance of navigation locks next month will close river shipping between Bonneville Dam and Lewiston, Idaho.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close its navigation locks at Bonneville, The Dalles, John Day and McNary dams on the Columbia, along with Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite dams on the Snake River from March 7 through March 21.

The closure will begin at 6 a.m. March 7, with access restored to all the dams except Lower Monumental and Little Goose by 11:59 p.m. on March 21.
