Port of Seattle Cargo Activity Sets Record

by Staff
Seattle Post-Intelligencer, February 7, 2006

The Port of Seattle last year handled nearly 2.09 million boxes of cargo, marking a record and a 17.6 percent increase from 2004. In comparison, the Port of Tacoma accommodated a record 2.07 million boxes in 2005, up 15 percent from 2004. Both ports have attributed cargo growth to increased trade with China. The Port of Seattle said its 2005 numbers, on a percentage basis, make it North America's fastest growing container port.
