by Associated PressKPAX, April 23, 2009 |
RICHLAND, Wash. - Another public utility district has joined Energy Northwest, bringing the public power consortium's membership to 25, the most in its 51-year history.
The Jefferson County PUD provides service to more than 3,000 customers on the Olympic Peninsula.
Energy Northwest operates a nuclear power plant near Richland and a hydropower project, as well as wind and solar power projects. Those projects deliver nearly 1,300 megawatts of power.
Its 25 members include 21 public utility districts and four municipalities.
