PGE Customers to Get Credit on Bills

by Staff
Salem Statesman Journal - June 10, 2004

The refunds range from $6 to $10

Portland General Electric customers should soon see a credit on their electricity bills of $6 to $10.

The money is part of a settlement between the state and Williams Cos. for its role in manipulating energy prices in 2000 and 2001.

Williams Cos. agreed to an $8 million repayment to electricity users; 60 percent of the amount is going to PGE and its customers.

The rest is going to other companies and industrial users.

Salem Electric buys all of its power from the Bonneville Power Administration, which is not part of the settlement, so Salem Electric customers won’t receive credits.
