Create a Human Orca Mural
by Backbone Campaign
|
Backbone Campaign and Alchemy Art Center are collaborating to save wild salmon & nourish the Southern Resident Orca with an event on San Juan Island this weekend.
Help us create a human orca mural at Jackson Beach on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.
We are at a historically pivotal moment. Breaching the Lower Snake River dams now is our best chance for saving multiple wild salmon and steelhead runs from extinction. That includes wild Chinook that our Lower Resident Orcas prefer and swim great distances to eat. That's why we are coming together as people who love this place and the salmon and orca we share it with to do something beautiful together.
Join us to make a giant human mural of an orca to show policymakers just how much we love our orca and wild salmon -- and that we have their backs for swift and bold action to protect these precious creatures.
We'll use our bodies (and umbrellas) to make a giant orca near the beach -- on the East end of Jackson Beach.
Please wear black if you can and bring a black umbrella if you have one. And spread the word! All welcome.
