NW Governors Send
by Associated Press
|
Three Northwest governors are asking President Bush to back off on plans to change the way the Bonneville Power Administration manages debt.
Governor Kulongoski joined Washington Governor Chris Gregoire and Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer in the letter to the president.
Bush has proposed a change that would earmark electricity sales for early repayment of Bonneville bond debt.
But the governors say it will raise electric rates by seven percent and cost Northwest taxpayers more than $100 million a year.
