Nuclear Power Plant Target Late August Restartby StaffTri-City Herald, July 20, 2011 |
RICHLAND -- Energy Northwest's nuclear power plant may not resume operating until the end of August as work continues to replace its condenser, officials said Tuesday.
The work was scheduled to be done by about June 25 but delays announced last month moved that date closer to early August.
Tuesday, officials said the outage will last for another 30 days, or late August.
Energy Northwest had planned an 80-day outage, the longest in its history, to allow time to replace the plant's condenser as the plant was being refueled.
The work is taking longer than expected, said Energy Northwest officials.
