Time is rapidly running out for the salmon and orca.
Gov. Jay Inslee and Sen. Patty Murray will soon be releasing their final report on saving our salmon from extinction. Restoring the Snake River would be a win-win-win-win-win for Washington and for the country.
Win #1: Honoring tribal agreements to provide plentiful fishing.
Win #2: Abiding by the Endangered Species Act and saving the endangered salmon and orcas.
Win #3: Replacing the services of crumbling turbines with solar, wind, battery storage, and conservation techniques, making a more green system (the slack water behind the dams emits a lot of methane gas).
Win #4: Good-paying jobs to work on the dam-breaching project and on the projects to replace the services provided by the dams.
Win #5: Saving and restoring one of the most endangered rivers in the country, which is the river with the best chance to help salmon survive climate change, because of the high elevation of the spawning areas.
Time is rapidly running out for the salmon and orca. They must not go extinct on our watch. Please contact your legislators in Washington state to let them know you support breaching the four Lower Snake River dams.
