McNary Dam Opens for Tours by Staff East Oregonian, September 6, 2011

UMATILLA -- McNary Lock and Dam staff is now offering tours of the fish view room and navigation lock on the Washington side of dam Saturdays until Oct. 29. Public access to both was limited following heightened security measures imposed after Sept. 11, 2001.

Tours are available from 10 a.m. to noon. Visitors must check in with the security guard at the north shore gate before meeting with a Corps of Engineers ranger at the navigation lock. To get to the north entrance, take Exit 131 from northbound Interstate 82. For more information, call the McNary Natural Resources Management Office at 541-922-2268.
