Ice Harbor Lock to Close to Boaters Next Weekby StaffTri-City Herald, November 8, 2012 |
Ice Harbor Dam's navigation lock on the Snake River near Burbank will be closed to recreational boaters from Monday, a federal holiday, through Nov. 16.
Commercial navigation traffic will be allowed through the lock only during evening hours.
The closure is for channel maintenance work to remove rocks and dirt within the downstream lock approach area identified during a recent Corps survey.
Currently, there is less than the standard 14-foot depth normally available to vessels if the river's surface elevation falls below 339 feet mean sea level below Ice Harbor Dam.
LKE Corp. of Washougal has a $254,680 contract from the Army Corps of Engineers for the work.
