The steelhead run at Lower Granite surpassed the 100,000 mark over the weekend. Between June 1 and Sunday 108,312 steelhead had been counted at Granite. The 10-year average is 72,812.
The latest forecast now calls for a return of 317,000 A-run steelhead to make it at least as far as Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River and for a return of 61,000 B-run steelhead.
Both forecasts have been ping ponging back and forth lately. But the latest are slight improvements from the A-run prediction of 306,000 and the B-run forecast of 52,000 issued early last week.
Preseason forecasts called for 337,000 A-run steelhead and 91,000 Bs to make it as far as Bonneville.
Fall chinook have set a new run record at Granite. Through Sunday 27,736 fall chinook had been counted at the dam.
