SW WA, Lower Columbia
Fishing Report (9-25-23)

THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS FORWARDED BY BRYANT SPELLMAN, WDFW

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam -- 606 salmonid boats and 53 Washington bank rods were tallied during Saturday’s (9/23) flight count.

Mainstem Columbia River

Salmon/Steelhead:

Sec 1 (Bonneville) -- 107 bank anglers kept 30 Chinook, five Chinook jacks, one coho and released one Chinook and three coho. 34 boats/90 rods kept 46 Chinook, six Chinook jacks, four coho and released one Chinook jack and one coho.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) -- 26 boats/62 rods kept 21 Chinook, two Chinook jacks, four coho and released three Chinook, one Chinook jack and one coho.

Sec 3 (I-5 area) -- One bank angler had no catch. 11 boats/20 rods kept three Chinook and one Chinook jack.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) -- 10 bank anglers had no catch. 32 boats/68 rods kept eight Chinook, one Chinook jack, three coho and released one Chinook.

Sec 5 (Woodland) -- No report.

Sec 6 (Kalama) -- Five bank anglers had no catch. 9 boats/17 rods kept nine Chinook and three coho. Sec 7 (Cowlitz) -- 4 boats/11 rods kept four Chinook and two Chinook jacks.

Sec 8 (Longview) -- No report.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) -- One bank angler had no catch. 8 boats/19 rods released two Chinook jacks.

Columbia River Tributaries

Salmon/Steelhead:

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream -- 47 bank rods kept one coho, five coho jacks and released one Chinook and one coho jack. 9 boats/15 rods kept three coho, two coho jacks and released one Chinook jack, seven coho and three coho jacks.

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br -- 44 bank rods kept one coho, two steelhead and released three Chinook. 1 boat/2 rods kept three steelhead and released two Chinook, two coho jacks and one steelhead.

Kalama River -- 12 bank rods released two Chinook and two coho.

Lewis River -- 16 bank rods kept 15 coho and two coho jacks.

Wind River -- Three bank rods had no catch. 8 boats/12 rods kept one Chinook, three coho and released one Chinook, 23 coho and one steelhead.

Drano Lake -- Three bank rod had no catch. 93 boats/312 rods kept 182 Chinook, 28 Chinook jacks, 38 coho and released 12 Chinook, two Chinook jacks, four coho and one steelhead.

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge -- Two bank rods had no catch.

Klickitat River above #5 Fishway -- One bank rod had no catch. 1 boat/3 rods kept three Chinook.
