Fishing Report (8-6-24)

Dennis Schwartz (center) and friends got into a pretty nice grade of Lower Columbia Chinook earlier today. (Knife Photo Contest) Preliminary Lower Columbia River and tributary sport sampling summary July 29-August 4, 2024

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam -- 229 salmonid boats and 132 Washington bank rods were tallied during Sunday's (8/4) flight count.

Mainstem Columbia River

Salmon/Steelhead:

Sec 1 (Bonneville) -- 59 bank anglers kept three steelhead, released one Chinook and 13 steelhead. 1 boat / 2 rods kept two steelhead.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) -- Eight bank anglers had no catch. 15 boats/27 rods released two Chinook and two steelhead.

Sec 3 (I-5 area) -- 14 bank anglers kept four steelhead and released eight steelhead.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) -- 36 bank anglers kept one Chinook and one steelhead. 14 boats/25 rods kept one steelhead.

Sec 5 (Woodland) -- 39 bank anglers released four steelhead. 16 boats/39 rods released 15 steelhead.

Sec 6 (Kalama) -- 121 bank anglers kept four Chinook, four steelhead and released 14 steelhead. 5 boats/12 rods released one steelhead.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) -- 7 boats/16 rods had no catch.

Sec 8 (Longview) -- 116 bank anglers kept 13 steelhead and released 15 steelhead. 12 boats/20 rods kept one Chinook, one steelhead and released one steelhead.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) -- 11 bank anglers released five steelhead. 2 boats/3 rods released one steelhead.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) -- Three bank anglers released one steelhead. 1 boat/2 rods had no catch.

Columbia River Tributaries

Salmon/Steelhead:

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream -- 37 bank rods had no catch. 13 boats/39 rods released one Chinook.

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br -- 16 bank rods kept one steelhead. 9 boats/25 rods kept 35 steelhead.

Kalama River -- Four bank rods had no catch.

Lewis River -- 9 boats/20 rods released one Chinook and one steelhead.

Wind River -- No report.

Drano Lake -- 10 bank rods had no catch. 57 boats/154 rods kept 34 Chinook, three Chinook jacks, released six Chinook and 26 steelhead.

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge -- No report.

Klickitat River above #5 Fishway -- One bank rod had no catch.
