The Columbia River is open to the retention of hatchery coho salmon and hatchery steelhead from Buoy 10 up to the Bonneville Dam. Only one steelhead may be retained as part of a two-fish limit. Chinook retention is closed.
Fishing for salmon or steelhead from Bonneville Dam to the Hwy. 395 Bridge in Pasco is closed for the year.
White sturgeon retention is closed from Buoy 10 at the mouth of the Columbia upstream to McNary Dam but remains an option for catch-and-release fishing.
Coho are available in local tributaries.
Holdover trout are available and biting in lowland lakes
Walleye fishing is fair in the John Day pool.
SALMON/STEELHEAD
The salmonid creel program on the lower Columbia has ended for the year and will resume February of 2020.
Columbia River Mainstem
Thirty bank anglers released six Chinook and kept seven coho. Seven boats/14 anglers kept one coho.
Bonneville Pool -- Closed. Weekly checking showed 11 adult coho kept, and two adult Chinook released for seven boats (16 anglers).
Columbia River Tributaries
Cowlitz River -- I-5 Bridge downstream: 35 bank rods kept one coho and released one coho. Seven boats/20 rods kept 24 coho and released one Chinook and four coho. Above the I-5 Bridge: 17 bank rods kept two coho and released 18 Chinook and one coho. One boat/one rod had no catch.
Kalama River -- 18 bank anglers had no catch. Two boats/five rods had no catch.
Lewis River -- 19 bank anglers kept two coho and one coho jack. 13 boats/44 rods kept five Chinook, two Chinook jacks, five coho, three coho jacks and released one Chinook and four coho.
Wind River -- One boat/one rod had no catch.
Klickitat below Fisher Hill Bridge -- 16 bank anglers kept seven coho and released two Chinook.
