Preliminary Columbia River and Tributaries Fishing Report, July 1 by Staff The Columbian, July 1, 2024

Lower Columbia River from Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam there were 75 salmonid boats and 173 Washington bank rods tallied during the June 29 flight count.

MAINSTEM COLUMBIA
Salmon/Steelhead

Sec 1. (Bonneville) -- 36 bank anglers kept eight sockeye, released one Chinook, two steelhead and two sockeye; one boat/two rods had no catch.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) -- 15 bank anglers kept six sockeye and released one Chinook; four boats/six rods had no catch.

Sec 3 (Interstate 5 area) -- 42 bank anglers kept 11 sockeye.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) -- 99 bank anglers kept two steelhead, 32 sockeye and released one steelhead; seven boats/12 rods had no catch.

Sec 5 (Woodland) -- Two bank anglers had no catch.

Sec 6 (Kalama) -- 114 bank anglers kept two steelhead, 16 sockeye, released one Chinook and three steelhead; seven boats/15 rods kept three steelhead, two sockeye and released one steelhead.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) -- Two boats/three rods had no catch.

Sec 8 (Longview) -- 108 bank anglers kept seven steelhead, released one Chinook, two steelhead and one sockeye; 20 boats/48 rods kept 15 steelhead, released one Chinook and five steelhead.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) -- 21 bank anglers had no catch; three boats/five rods had no catch.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet)-- Five bank anglers had no catch; three boats/nine rods kept five steelhead.

Cowlitz River I-5 Bridge downstream -- 45 bank rods kept four steelhead; one boat/two rods had no catch.

Cowlitz River above the I-5 Bridge -- 16 bank rods kept one steelhead; 11 boats/37 rods released one Chinook and kept 10 steelhead.

OREGON CREEL CHECK

Lower Columbia -- Two boats/four rods with 14 walleye kept.

Bonneville pool -- One boat/two rods kept two walleye; three boats/seven rods released one Chinook; 45 bank rods kept one Chinook, one jack Chinook, 16 sockeye, and released one Chinook and seven sockeye.

The Dalles pool -- Six boats/11 rods released three walleye and kept 14; one bank angler had no catch.

John Day pool -- 21 boats/56 rods released 44 walleye and kept 127.
