COLUMBIA FISHING REPORTS

Spring Chinook fishing in the Northwest is popular either from a boat or from the bank.  Let's go fishing. Salmon, Steelhead and Shad

Catch rates for Chinook improved for boat anglers fishing in the gorge and Troutdale, however rates declined for the remainder of the river. Boat anglers fishing in the gorge averaged 0.63 spring Chinook caught per boat, while anglers fishing in Troutdale averaged 0.24 spring Chinook caught per boat. In the Portland to Westport area, boat anglers averaged 0.16 spring Chinook and 0.44 steelhead caught per boat. Bank anglers fishing the Portland to Westport area averaged 0.08 spring Chinook caught per bank rod, while anglers fishing in the gorge averaged 0.04 spring Chinook caught per bank rod. Shad anglers fishing in the gorge are catching a fair number of fish.

Gorge Bank:

Weekly checking showed one adipose fin-clipped adult Chinook kept for 24 bank anglers; and 340 shad kept for 118 shad anglers.

Gorge Boats:

Weekend checking showed two adipose fin-clipped adult Chinook and one adipose fin-clipped jack Chinook kept, plus three unclipped adult Chinook released for eight boats (23 anglers); and 404 shad kept for 13 shad boats (44 anglers).

Troutdale Boats:

Weekend checking showed three adipose fin-clipped adult Chinook and two adipose fin-clipped jack Chinook kept, plus three unclipped adult Chinook released for 25 boats (48 anglers); and 24 shad kept for four shad boats (10 anglers).

Portland to Westport Bank:

Weekend checking showed four adipose fin-clipped adult Chinook, six adipose fin-clipped jack Chinook and two adipose fin-clipped steelhead kept, plus four unclipped adult Chinook and three unclipped jack Chinook released for 97 bank anglers.

Portland to Westport Boats:

Weekend checking showed three adipose fin-clipped adult Chinook and 11 adipose fin-clipped steelhead kept, plus one unclipped adult Chinook released for 25 boats (67 anglers); and 40 shad kept for one boat (four anglers).

Estuary Bank (Clatsop Spit to Wauna Powerlines):

No report.

Estuary Boats (Tongue Point to Wauna Powerlines):

Weekend checking showed no catch for two boats (three anglers).

Bonneville Pool:

No report.

The Dalles Pool:

No report.

John Day Pool (Columbia River above John Day Dam and John Day Arm):

No report.
