Fishing Report for Lower Columbia River Mainstem and Tributaries: April 12 by Staff The Columbian, April 12, 2022

The Lower Columbia River mainstem from Buoy 10 upstream to Bonneville Dam on Wednesday, April 6 tallied 1,109 salmonid boats and 257 Washington bank rods for this week's count.

Fishery reports

MAINSTEM COLUMBIA RIVER

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Sec 1 (Bonneville) -- 179 bank anglers kept 12 Chinook and released one Chinook; one boat/one rod had no catch.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) -- 14 boats/30 rods kept one Chinook.

Sec 3 (Interstate 5 area) -- 50 boats/123 rods kept 23 Chinook and released two Chinook.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) -- Five bank anglers had no catch; 18 boats/38 rods kept nine Chinook.

Sec 5 (Woodland) -- 20 bank anglers had no catch; 40 boats/94 rods kept 24 Chinook and released three Chinook.

Sec 6 (Kalama) -- 26 bank anglers had no catch; 51 boats/131 rods kept 28 Chinook and released one Chinook.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) -- 11 boats/35 rods kept 22 Chinook and released two Chinook.

Sec 8 (Longview) -- 20 bank anglers had no catch; 161 boats/375 rods kept 61 Chinook, two jacks, one steelhead and released eight Chinook and one steelhead.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) -- 19 bank anglers had no catch; five boats/nine rods had no catch.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) -- 102 boats/251 rods kept 75 Chinook, two jacks and released two Chinook.

COLUMBIA RIVER TRIBUTARIES

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Cowlitz River from Interstate 5 Bridge downstream -- 95 bank rods kept two Chinook, 12 steelhead and released one Chinook and two steelhead; one boat/one rod had no catch.

Cowlitz River above Interstate 5 Bridge -- 20 bank rods kept two steelhead.

Kalama River -- 38 bank rods kept two steelhead and released three steelhead; nine boats/22 rods kept two Chinook, one steelhead and released three steelhead.

Lewis River -- 38 bank rods kept three Chinook; six boats/13 rods kept six Chinook and released one Chinook and one steelhead.

Wind River -- Two bank rods had no catch.

Drano Lake -- One bank rod had no catch; 14 boat/29 rods kept three Chinook and released one Chinook.

MAINSTEM COLUMBIA RIVER

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Buoy 10 upstream to Bonneville Dam -- Closed to fishing for salmon, steelhead and shad.

Bonneville Dam upstream to Highway 395 Bridge at Pasco -- Through May 5, open to bank angling for hand-cast lines only. Daily limit is six with up to two adults may be retained of which up to one may be an adult Chinook. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook. Release wild steelhead.

Tower Island power lines upstream to Hwy. 730 at the Washington/Oregon border -- Through May 5, open to boat and bank angling. Daily limit is six with up to two adults may be retained of which up to one may be an adult Chinook. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook. Release wild steelhead.

STURGEON

Columbia River, from Buoy 10 upstream to McNary Dam, including adjacent tributaries -- Catch and release fishing only. Fishing for sturgeon at night is closed.
