Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River -- 100 bank anglers kept 1 Chinook and 3 steelhead. 40 boat anglers kept 3 Chinook and 3 steelhead plus released 1 Chinook.

Last week Tacoma Power recovered 561 winter-run steelhead and seven spring Chinook adults during five days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week Tacoma Power employees released 86 steelhead and three spring Chinook adults into Lake Scanewa above Cowlitz Falls Dam at the Day Use Site and 60 steelhead into the Tilton River at Gust Backstrom Park in Morton.

River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 6,620 cubic feet per second on Monday, April 8. Water visibility is 12 feet.

Kalama River -- 6 bank anglers had no catch.

Wind River -- About an average of a boat per day here. No anglers were sampled.

Drano Lake -- 4 bank anglers kept 1 Chinook. 6 boat anglers kept 2 Chinook. 4 boats observed here last Saturday morning.

Klickitat River -- 1 bank angler with no catch. River was muddy last Saturday.

Lower Columbia mainstem below Bonneville Dam -- Last week we sampled 3,225 salmonid anglers (including 1,140 boats) with 479 adult and 3 jack spring Chinook and 4 steelhead. 396 (83%) of the adult Chinook were kept as were 75% of the steelhead. 217 (64%) of the adult Chinook sampled were upriver stock based on Visual Stock Identification.

Bonneville, The Dalles, and John Day pools -- Light effort and no catch was observed.
