Really Early Sockeye Counted at Bonneville
by Mark Yuasa
|
State Fish and Wildlife biologist Joe Hymer reported a chrome bright, beautiful sockeye was counted at Bonneville Dam on Tuesday (Feb. 3).
He reported this is either the third or fourth year in a row for this to occur, when a sockeye arrived before any spring chinook had made their way up the fish ladder at Bonneville.
The sockeye measured 20 inches long and was counted at 6:30 pm. on Tuesday.
It shouldn't be much longer before the spring chinook arrive in what is expected to be a rather large run.
