Don't Waste Money

The recent letter regarding the removal of the dams
on the Lower Snake River got the juices flowing again.
This is regarding the letter to the editor, "Science on dam removal does seem clear," published on June 9.
It's been a while since I have contributed to the U-B's "Our Readers' Opinions" section. But the recent letter regarding the removal of the dams on the Lower Snake River got the juices flowing again.
The author is probably correct in his science data but definitely correct on the absurdity of our state Legislature appropriation of $750,000 in taxpayer funds at the request of Jay "Green Governor" Inslee to study the removal of the four Lower Snake River dams. (Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite are considered the four lower dams.) This is the same "governor" who spent over $5 million in his absurd research into running for president.
The waste of $750,000 in a study to remove the four Lower Snake River dams will go nowhere and is typical of Gov. Inslee.
Washington state does not own or manage the lower four Snake River dams, those dams are owned and managed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. (Federal government.) Anybody with a spare two minutes can Google or Yahoo that information.
So where does the $750,000 go? Which Legislature members' uncle, brother-in-law, nephew or cousin is doing the research to nowhere? If Jay really cares about the environment, clean air, saving orcas and the salmon, then quit wasting taxpayer dollars on pie-in-the-sky projects and spend it on fixing the infrastructure.
