Breaching Snake River Dams
by Norm Colbert
The ridiculous movement that advocates breeching four large hydroelectic dams on the Snake River is absolutely crazy ("Editorial: What look at Snake dams can mean for orcas, us," The Herald, March 17).
One of my uncles discharged explosives in the original construction of these dams. Besides electric power, flood control and irrigation of many thousands of acres of food=producing crops they are the ultimate use of extant technologies. The only replacement would be nuclear power.
Is that what these groups want? Just crazy.
