U.S. Seeks Biological Services for Hydro Projects in Northwest by Staff HydroWorld, February 17, 2014

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to provide biological services and quality assurance for its juvenile fish transportation program at five hydroelectric projects on the Snake and Columbia rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Bids are due Feb. 23.

The Corps' Walla Walla District previously requested information on firms able to provide the services. It took bids last year from small firms able to perform biological studies in the Snake and Columbia river basins.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps now seeks bids to assist in collection, sampling, bypass and transport of juvenile salmonids; conduct regular facility inspections, assist with gatewell dipping; collect water temperatures; monitor outside research groups; disseminate reports; and coordinate activities of biologists.

Under a one-year contract, with four option years, work would be performed at the 810-MW Lower Granite, 810-MW Little Goose, 810-MW Lower Monumental and 603-MW Ice Harbor projects on the Snake River and the 980-MW McNary project on the Columbia River.
