Fall Chinook Salmon Fishing
Below Bonneville Dam to Close Early

by Bill Monroe
The Oregonian, September 4, 2019

From the banks of the Columbia River in 2011 as Bonneville Dam spills water over spillways. Fall chinook salmon fishing below Bonneville Dam will close at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

Fish managers in Oregon and Washington ordered the closure during a conference call Wednesday afternoon after noting higher-than-expected catches by anglers in the last area open to fall chinook below Bonneville: from the dam downriver to Warrior Rock on Sauvie Island.

Fishing had been expected to last through Sunday.

Angling and fall chinook retention will continue upriver from Bonneville Dam.
