ILWU Goes Back to Work
by Conrad Wilson
|
Officials at the Port of Portland said workers with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union started offloading the ship at Terminal 6 Tuesday.
On Monday, activities at many West Coast ports resumed following a shutdown by employers over the weekend.
But at the Port of Portland, union workers had refused to go back to work.
Josh Thomas, a spokesman for the Port of Portland, said there was a container vessel docked at the Port, waiting to be serviced.
Craig Merrilees, a spokesman for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, said there was no connection between the ILWU's grievance in Portland and the weekend shutdown.
