Spring Chinook Anglers Will Get Two More
Days to Fish the Columbia River

by Bill Monroe
The Oregonian, April 10, 2019

A spring chinook salmon in hand of happy fisherman. Most local rivers are in poor condition following recent rains. Spring chinook anglers, hampered by poor weather, cold water and a flooding Willamette River, will get two more days to fish in the Columbia River up to Bonneville Dam for now.

Washington and Oregon biologists approved fishing Saturday and Sunday in the same area, and under the same rules, where fishing officially closed Wednesday evening.

Another meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to review the run, apparently delayed by adverse conditions.

The states also closed sturgeon retention fishing Friday evening in Bonneville Reservoir.
