Wheat Growers Honor Senator

Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., received the National Association of Wheat Growers' 2010 Wheat Leader of the Year award.
The Washington Association of Wheat Growers nominated Murray for the award because of her leadership in securing funding for agricultural research, support for beneficial farm programs and efforts to secure funding for to dredge the Columbia River to increase flow of agriculture products throughout the state. Murray said in a press release she was honored to receive the award.
"The success of wheat growers in Washington state and across the country is critical to our economic recovery," she stated. "I will continue working to make sure they have the resources and support they need to thrive in this competitive economy.
Last year, Murray received the Washington association's Legislator of the Year award.
