Richland Nuclear Plant
by Staff |
RICHLAND After being offline for a week, the Columbia Generating Plant outside Richland should put its generator back onto the grid by Saturday morning.
Energy Northwest spokeswoman Rochelle Olson said the nuclear power plant was taken offline Sept. 25 to readjust insulation coverings that were put over electrical components after an electrical arc caused a small fire in early August.
Energy Northwest expected to bring the power plant back online shortly after that, but left it offline to perform future maintenance work. A condensation booster pump was replaced and workers checked for moisture in oil, which Olson called a "non-issue."
Olson said she expected the plant to be online early Saturday.
