Salmon Doomed to Extinction
by Tony Meyer
The Columbian, September 29, 2009
The Columbian's Sept. 20 editorial, "Progress for salmon," and its support of the latest Obama/Bush administrations' salmon recovery plan reeks of political pandering. The residents of Washington state should be ashamed of its leadership for accepting $40.5 million from Bonneville Power Administration and, as a result, for supporting the plan. There is nothing "scientific" about this plan, which would attempt to recover Snake River salmon populations by restoring habitat in the lower Columbia River, including Clark County.
Acceptance of this plan will doom Snake River salmon to extinction and make all citizens complicit in their demise.
