Chinook Fishing on Snake River
by Staff |
ENTERPRISE -- Fishing for spring-run Chinook salmon closes at midnight Aug. 4 on the Snake River. Biologists with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Idaho Fish and Game recommended the closure on the shared boundary water because the total allowed catch of 2,000 hatchery Chinook has been landed.
"Overall catch rates were pretty good, despite anglers struggling with high flows from the dam", said Jeff Yanke, a department district fish biologist in Enterprise. "Anglers also did well on the Powder and Boise rivers, where fish trapped at the Hell's Canyon Dam were released to create additional fishing opportunities."
